The Chief Executive Officer of the Leverage Microfinance Company (LMC), Mr. Gilbert K. N. Adamtey has called on the government to consider collaborating with the various telecommunication companies in the country to infuse digital addresses of people in their sim cards. He said this will help financial institutions in their loan recovery process.
According to him, many financial institutions, including microfinance companies, often struggled to recover loans from their clients due to of the poor addressing system in the country.
He explained that some customers after taking loans deliberately change their locations which make it difficult to trace or locate where such customers reside.
Mr Adamtey in an interview with some newsmen in Accra said when people’s digital address are infused in their sim cards, will enable the financial institutions to know the exact locations of their clients even when they changed their residence.
He was of the view that although the GhanaPostGPS digital property addressing system had enhanced the country’s addressing system, infusing the digital address in sim cards would further enhance the addressing system in the country.
