Step Up Business School, a competency-based training institution in Accra has started a business club known as the Step Up Business Club for students in Senior High Schools in Ghana.

The School made a presentation at the Preset Pacesetters Senior High School in Madina, a suburb of Accra on March 20, 2019 to enroll students into the club. Speaking to the students of the school during the presentation, CEO of the school, Charles King Nanor noted that the club was geared toward raising successful entrepreneurs and business-minded young men and women.

“The idea is to imbibe in the senior high school students the need to be business-minded and also get them to start thinking globally even before they leave senior high school. In so doing, they would have amassed a wealth of information and practical skills about business and what it entails before they complete school.”

According to Charles King Nanor, the members of the club will go through a structured programmes including the opportunity of meeting some of Ghana’s top business executives and also enjoy industrial visits to some of the country’s top companies. The students were made to understand the background of the club and some of the benefits they would stand to gain should they sign up to the club.

The CEO also hinted that the club would hold district, regional and national business idea competitions with the best schools walking away with prizes and having the bragging rights as the school with the brightest business minds.

“We would hold business competitions at the district, regional and national levels where students in the clubs at the various schools will battle it out to find out which one of them has the brightest minds and ideas when it comes to business. This competition would be televised to reach and educate more youth to inspire them to start and run successful businesses,” he noted while speaking to the students.

According the head of business development at the Step Up Business School, Stephen Osei Agyemang, Ghana has many business students who are bright and need the right platform to harness their ideas hence the decision to form the club for the students.

“Our attention for the past years has been focused on only science students which has led to the much-watched National Science and Maths Quiz which is televised across the country. We forget that they are other subjects with bright future prospects who can help run the country and we can all attest to the fact that business is very important in any country’s administration. Our aim at Step Up Business School is to train these young people by organizing meetings and forums with top business leaders in the country and also get them to have a feel of how companies work in Ghana with our well-structured industrial trips so that they can get the experience and motivation they need as growing business men and women,” Agyemang noted.

Step Up Business School has organised 15 successful business forum at the British Council since October, 2015 to inspire and connect business executives.
